Chapter six is starting in the narrators office. Last night he was fighting in the Fight Club and so he has a black eye and a swallowing face. Because of is outside appearance, his boss will not let him run the demo to Microsoft.
The guy from Microsoft, named Walter, asks him for the reason of his wounds. He can not talk about the Fight Club, because the first rule about Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club. In this chapter, the reader learns the seven rules of Fight Club and how he was founded.
The first Fight Club was only a struggle between Tyler and the narrator. In the course of time there came more and more guys to fight against. There are seven rules for the Fight Club arrayed by Tyler and the narrator:
1st Rule – You don’t talk about Fight Club.
2nd Rule – You don’t talk about Fight Club.
3rd Rule – Two men per fight.
4th Rule – One fight at a time.
5th Rule – No shoes/ No shirts.
6th Rule – Fight goes on as long as they have to.
7th Rule – If this is you first night at fight club, you have to fight.
Tyler and the narrator did not had a real father in their childhood. The fathers were away for a long time and so they were raised by their mothers. The two guys find out, that a man need a father figure. Probably this is a reason why they had founded the Fight Club. They think, that self-destruction and not self-improvement is the answer and the only way to deal with it and to feel alive.
